LiveEnglish was founded by Vincent Jang and Caroline Ouyang, both of whom have experienced living in a foreign country and teaching English in Korea. We know how challenging yet rewarding it is to experience life and work overseas, and we are happy to assist you in making the decision to spend a year in Korea as an English teacher!
With over 15 years of experience living and working overseas, Vincent knows exactly what it’s like to adapt to unfamiliar cultures. From Korea to Africa to the United States to Thailand, adjusting to life in multiple foreign countries has increased Vincent’s understanding and compassion for people in similar situations. After returning to Korea and working in the education sector both as a teacher and administrator, Vincent has met many foreign teachers and learned about their challenges while living in Korea.
As is the case with many foreign English teachers, Caroline traveled to Korea after completing her bachelor’s degree. Two years later, with $20,000 in savings from teaching English, Caroline returned to the United States to complete a master’s in TESOL. Her experience working at various educational institutes in Korea—including an academy, a university, an international test preparation center, and a winter camp program—showed her how greatly the quality of a school and its management can affect a teacher’s experience.
