This part of the process is really all about you and what you’re seeking. After you submit an application online and tell us what you’re looking for in a job, we’ll contact schools that meet your preferences and approach them with your resume. If they’re interested, we’ll arrange a phone interview so you can speak to them directly and take the opportunity to ask them questions. We’re selective about the schools we place teachers at and we just want to remind you that you shouldn’t ever feel pressured by a school into working for them. If there’s something you don’t feel comfortable with, then it’s okay—go with your gut. We’ll keep looking for you until you decide on a school and an offer that you like.
Depending on your experience or educational background, it may be possible to request a modest salary increase—LiveEnglish will negotiate on your behalf. The terms of payment are typically standard across the board—2.0 million won per month for approximately 30 hours of teaching per week—but on occasion, it is possible to negotiate 100,000 or 200,000 won more per month based on any relevant experience, certification, and education you bring with you to the job. We will gladly do this delicate negotiation process for you.
While we don’t anticipate problems arising, sometimes misunderstandings can occur as a result of linguistic or cultural miscommunication. If some kind of dispute or argument arises that you and your employer are unable to resolve, then you or the school can contact us so that we can step in and help find a resolution that satisfies both parties. We understand it’s difficult to work productively, never mind derive satisfaction from your work, when hard feelings linger, so we strongly suggest treating and resolving challenges with your employer as soon as they come up. This way, the misunderstandings are clarified and don’t fester into bigger, on-going problems.
